Solution

You have the part. That is enough to start.

Without a drawing, every reorder starts from scratch and every supplier interprets the sample differently. Turning the sample into an approved drawing ends that cycle permanently.

  • Worn samples accepted
  • Confidence stated per feature
  • The drawing is yours
Section A-AProblem resolved to a defined route

Best for

Mechanical parts with no drawing and an uncertain supply

You send

The sample or photographs with a scale, and its function

You get back

An approved drawing plus a verified first part

How it starts

Sample condition assessed before you commit

The situation

The cost of having no drawing

It is not just this order. It is every order after it, quoted from a sample that is getting more worn each time it travels.

  • 01Only a sample exists, and it is worn or broken
  • 02OEM drawings unavailable or withheld
  • 03Uncertainty about material and hardness
  • 04A need to reorder the same part reliably in future

What you get

What working with CMTA actually delivers

Sample to approved drawing to verified part, with the drawing retained for you.

  • A confidence statement

We tell you which features were measured directly and which were reconstructed from function, so the risk is visible rather than hidden.

  • A controlled document

Tolerances, material and treatment documented on a drawing you own and reorder against.

  • A verified prototype

The first part is inspected against the drawing and trialled on the machine before final release.

  • Material handled honestly

Hardness tested where needed; where a material is selected by judgement rather than test, the drawing says so.

Where this stops

An unknown original material specification is not always fully recoverable. We state what was verified and what was selected by engineering judgement rather than implying certainty we do not have.

01

What we need from you

  • The sample, or photographs with a scale reference
  • Machine and what the part does
  • Mating parts or assembly information
  • Failure history
  • Quantity and urgency
02

Acceptance

The prototype is inspected against the drawing and trialled on the machine; the drawing is then released for repeat orders.

How it runs

The route from enquiry to verified result

Each stage produces something you can check, and the drawing approval stage is yours to control.

  1. 01

    Assess

Sample condition; which surfaces can be trusted and which reconstructed.

  2. 02

    Analyse

Measurement, mating-part examination and functional analysis.

  3. 03

    Draw

Dimensions, tolerances, material and treatment issued for approval.

  4. 04

    Prove

Prototype manufactured, verified, trialled, then final revision released.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Only a sample exists, often worn or broken
  • OEM drawings unavailable or withheld
  • Uncertainty about material and hardness
  • Need to reorder the same part reliably later

If two or more apply, this is probably the right route for you.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The questions engineers and buyers ask before sending a drawing. If yours is not here, ask it directly — you will get an engineer's answer, not a brochure.

Still have a question?

Talk to Anita M.N, Managing Partner, or send the drawing and let the review answer it.

When is reverse engineering appropriate?

When no drawing exists or can be obtained, the sample allows the functional surfaces to be measured or reconstructed, and the part is mechanical.

What if the sample is badly worn?

Worn surfaces are reconstructed from mating parts and function. CMTA states which features were measured and which were reconstructed so you can judge the confidence yourself.

Who owns the drawing?

The drawing is developed for you and retained so you can reorder against it.

Can the material be identified?

Hardness is tested and material inferred or tested where required. Where the original cannot be determined, a suitable material is selected and stated explicitly on the drawing.
